From Chicago, completed MSc in Data Science 6 years ago in Scotland. Hobbies include sports, data, and programming.
I am at an intermediate level of coding in Python and have mentored various python beginners that I have met through Facebook groups, StackOverflow, junior Data Scientists on my team, and new MSc Data Science students . I work with many of the machine learning packages in Python such as scikit learn, keras, TensorFlow, various python visualizations, NLP, computer Vision, etc. Alot of what I like to do in my spare time is collect data via web scraping techniques, or with automated browsers, to utilize in machine learning workflows.
I have three philosophies:
1) First just get it to work, THEN if need be, get it to work fast.
2) Don't try to boil the ocean (don't try to solve an entire problem on first go, break it up into smaller simpler tasks, then you can embellish and add on.
3) You don't need to memorize everything, but you should be able to be resourceful enough and look it up/Google it. Find examples or tutorials that exemplify what you are trying to do, or the issue you are having, and adapt it to your personal needs.
Lastly, here is a video of a talk I gave at conference describing my MSc project. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3rbo3WoMME
I have a unique background for a software engineer in that I have a degree in Computer Science and English Literature, but I feel that good writing, good code, and effective teaching are all fundamentally about communication: how do you solve/break down problems in ways that are cogent and easy to understand. One of my favorite things about coding is the "eureka" moment, and sharing/facilitating that with someone else is something that I find really rewarding. Besides helping to solve problems, I also have a very good eye for detail and can review code, suggest edge cases and tests, and offer feedback on structure/refactoring options.
I'm a Python developer with experience in (full stack) web app development. I also have expertise in GNU/Linux internals and utilities.

I am a remote fullstack developer who's life has been transformed by remote work. I am knowledgeable about both backend and frontend technologies.
I share my developer knowledge and my experience as a remote developer on my blog : https://remotedevdaily.com/
Backend:
I work a ton with python and django on the backend and am very confident in my skills with that stack. I've also worked a lot with the django rest framework, celery, and postgres. I've done things like creating nice crisp rest api, create web scrapers, parse documents using nlp and regular expressions, implement event based async task systems with celery, and much more.
Frontend:
I've worked extensively with vuejs and vuex. I am proficient in building out modular components, managing both local and application state, and integrating with backend api. I've also been called in on many projects to come in and perform a large refactor of messy front end vue code bases.
I am very excited to be able to share my knowledge. Please don't hesistate to reach out to me for help.
Ask me anything :)
I'll do my best mentoring you in the fields of Data Science, Machine Learning, Web and Backend Development using Python, Version Control System (Git) and tips to be more productive.
