A great freelance Shopify developer should be able to understand your e-commerce
needs and implement them into a production environment. While you want them to
be knowledgeable and, perhaps, willing to help you upload and manage inventory
and other more administrative tasks, their talents and value are best used for
integrating new services (e.g., payment gateways), optimizing the UX and UI of
the site, front-end development, a bit of web design, and building new
functionality, among other things.
For this role, you might prefer a more well-rounded individual, someone who is
at once a solid front-end developer, graphic designer, and general e-commerce
jack-of-all-trades. Theyâll need to understand how to best integrate third-party
APIs, set up and report on key store metrics, troubleshoot both administrative
and user-facing issues, and work within your set brand guidelines. Depending on
how advanced technically your requirements are, theyâll need to be experienced
in many front-end programming languages, frameworks, and libraries, as well as
the tools your team uses internally (e.g., Slack, GitHub, Asana).
