I have been working in the industry for over 10 years working in startups through to large organisations. There are 2 things I am very passionate about; people and programming. Being able to program with others is what I do each day and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Currently, I am the CTO & cofounder of a technology company, and advisor to companies and I mentor engineers from various levels from interns to seniors.
Code reviews and pair programming is the best way to share and learn from each other. These discussions are always valuable to all parties and I am always keen to discuss code.

I've been working with Ruby on Rails since 2007, and haven't looked back. Everything from simple apps, to large scale apps with mobile counterparts, I've had my hands in nearly every stage and level of the development stack.
My experience ranges from back-end development to nearly all client-side development using both React.js and Vue.js. I have several years of experience in design and UX both for web, mobile, and tablet applications.
I currently lead the AI umbrella at Doximity, and co-host the Ruby Rogues podcast. Feel free to explore some open source work I am involved with. I created and maintain the open-source project GitReflow which won the 2015 Fukuoka Ruby Award judged by Ruby's creator Matz.

I have been developing computer/web/mobile applications for the last 15 years. Most of my education has been self-taught, although I have finished a 3-year diploma for Computer Science Technology at Sheridan College in a year. My passions lie in programming, mostly in Ruby, as well as, small electronics. I have been building custom electronics for the past few years. I love to share my passions and by doing so, I've started a makerspace, a coworking space and have run a number of courses teaching Ruby, Rails and other web technologies to assorted age groups. Alongside that, I also run a meetup group called "Yukon Tech Collective" and am working hard at bringing more technology into the Yukon.

Back in 2007, I had been a Java web developer for over 5 years and was burnt out. Then, I was introduced to Ruby on Rails, and I fell in love with programming again. I thought that passion might wear out over time. However, I feel like I get more enthusiastic about writing beautiful code every year. More recently, React has done the same thing for me. I used to not get very excited about Javascript work, but React has been a game changer for me.
I love doing code reviews and mentoring. I have found that this is the best way to get other people to share my passion for all things Ruby on Rails and React. I also get very excited about writing code that is simple and easily maintained. Over the years, I have discovered that the best programmers write code that comes out simple and easy to follow. It takes a lot of work to make a complex system seem simple. However, that is the best end result for the long term success of a project. I always strive to leave a codebase in a state that is easy for anyone to maintain in the future.
Outside of the office, you'll find me watching my daughters compete in gymnastics and aerial arts (circus). My wife and I are also semi-professional poker players. So, if you swing through Vegas, it is quite likely that you'll find us in a card room.

I have been doing full stack web development now for nearly 20 years. I was self taught initially but then began seeking more formal education to improve my skills.
Over the course of 20 years I've:
- Built countless websites (static, PHP, Wordpress, MoveableType!, and now tons of Rails apps)
- Managed linux servers
- Sold a blog that targeted software developers!
- And more...
I'm ready to help you out with your web application challenges. I can probably be most of use with Rails apps and Serverless Javascript but if you need help with strategy, architecture, etc, I can help with that too. I have helped others build successful software businesses including selling my own and helping others build and sell theirs.
Ready to help! Would especially love to help with refactoring code.
