I've been working with UNIX-like systems (Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Mac OS X and many more) for about 20 years, both as a hobby, as my field of study and as a profession. I run my own company in Sweden in UNIX consultation, education and hosting. I've also written five books about programming and Linux. The first book is about Python. The second book is about C programming in Linux, macOS, BSD and Solaris. The third book is about Linux system administration. The forth one is about Linux system programming (the only one in English). The fifth one is about Docker. I prefer to do freelance jobs. I can also do sessions though, but keep in mind that I prefer to use text chat only, no voice.

I figured you probably want to know a little more than my passion for tech. Professionally, I am a Software Engineer currently working with an awesome startup based out of San Francisco. With progressively responsible software engineering experience in business domains using latest technologies and platforms, result oriented, hands-on problem-solving, debugging and analytical capabilities. Passionate about balancing meeting resource and time constraints while doing it right, motivated with intellectual, analytical and creative ability to learn quickly, bringing a strong foundation of knowledge and skill set, well developed communication and interpersonal skills. I enjoy taking problems and turning them into simple and beautiful interface design. I love programming and always strive to be in sync with the newest technologies.

Veteran software engineer with broad experience in automation, virtualization, various languages and platforms, performance analysis, etc. -- all the tools to get the job done. I've been programming since I was in the 7th grade, and 20 years professionally. I am self-taught, so I have a knack for staying up with current technology and quickly adapting. I understand architecture at a low level, and am passionate about well-designed, robust software. My automation background comes from being the primary developer on a very large server application with little resources to support it, so, every task that could be automated, had to be. Ruby has been my automation language of choice, though I anticipate Go replacing it where performance is concerned. I like solving problems big and small, so, I'm glad to work with students; though businesses and other developers stand to benefit the most from working with me.

I am a well-rounded full-stack polyglot generalist software engineer employing a language and platform-agnostic approach to problem-solving. My experience spans Data Platform and Engineering, Event-Driven Systems, Infrastructure management, RESTful services/API, full-stack applications, as well as system design and architecture. My industry experience covers FinTech, Banking, Social Media, Advertising, Travel, and Government sectors. I am a strong proponent of “You build it, You run it”, DevOps, and CI/CD practices Throughout my career, I have led teams to solve problems of both scale and complexity. I have consistently demonstrated my ability to propose innovative ideas and validate their feasibility through examples. I favour solid design with fast iteration over quick and dirty solutions that impede future modifications. I can work independently and as part of a team, and I am always willing to go the extra mile to get the job done. I have a broad set of deliberately acquired skills that make me a generalist problem solver. As a passionate and research-oriented continuous learner, I am committed to expanding my understanding and skills in computer science. I am always willing to share my knowledge and expertise and enjoy leading and leveraging technology to solve challenging problems. “The lesson was very informative. We covered creating an Okta account and using the dashboard to setup an app, creating user accounts and logging them in by calling endpoints, and login page with redirect url to app home page.“

“My first session with Rakib was good. I showed him code from my last interview. We went over it and he gave me feedback on how to explain the code better. He is setting up a path to help me get better, fill in the gaps so I can be better prepared for interviews.“
