Analysis of the progress of COVID-19 in the world with Data Science.

All the data in this article was made with Data Scientis tools.

Given the circumstances the planet is experiencing at the moment, we show below a series of results after implementing Data Science techniques to monitor the virus.
For the following analyzes, the data from the Johns repositories were taken Hopkins University Center for Systems Science and Engineering (JHU CSSE).
As it is public knowledge, the advance of the pandemic is a worldwidede concer, that is why I consider interesting to be able to make an analysis of certain countries.

Therefore we can see in the following graph how the curve of confirmed infected persons in countries such as USA, Italy, France and Argentina advances from the beginning to today.

It can be clearly seen that the spread of contagion in European countries has a more linear curve compared to what is “flattened” in the curve of Latin American countries such as Argentina. On the other hand, it is worrying to see the exponentiality of the USA curve.

Let’s also see the same graph but analyzing the deaths.

It is striking, comparing both graphs the exponential growth of Italy against France and the United States. The questions that arise from these two charts and remain open are:

  • Does the Italian health system compare to that of the USA?
  • Will the data be real?
  • Why do Italy and France with similar contagion curves have so much difference in deaths?
  • Looking at the curve of contagions in the USA, how will the curve of their deaths be in 15 days? Over Italy or below?

It would be interesting to analyze how much percentage of confirmed patients are dying, for that after a series of analyzes and analyzes, we obtain the following graph:

It is clear that Argentina, after seeing the initial peak, tries to maintain a “straight” between 2% and 4% of deaths.

While we see that Italy, the death rate is getting higher.

Let’s take a look at the charts worldwide to get a sense of how this pandemic grows:

Let’s look in particular at Europe, the epicenter of the virus:

Although these latest maps do not show information over time, it is striking as China, where the virus originated and having the largest population in the world, is not the strongest color, while Italy is.

The analysis of the borders of Italy is also very striking, because it would be that Switzerland and Austria are among the least dead if they are the limits of Italy?

To finish, let’s look at the same analysis but over time:

Have you taken into account the lockdown/restrictions rules and start/end time on Italy and the neighboring countries? I am living in Germany and we can clearly see the difference in about two weeks after those rules were implemented.
