How I learned Tableau

About me

2017 graduate, working as a Technical Consultant.
Not a pro in terms of marks obtained, but have gained good knowledge of BI-Tools.

Love to play around with data, be it ETL, Analysis, Reporting or Visualization.

Why I wanted to learn Tableau

I believe that visualization give life to the dead data that's present with anyone.
So, I learned Tableau to give life to the data, hence bringing meaningful information about it, helping in taking decision based on it.

How I approached learning Tableau

Initially I started by going through the tutorials present on Tableau official website.

Then, being a part of Edureka, took up the course to gain some real insights for Tableau.

After that, while working for clients gained a lot more than I ever did.

Challenges I faced

Had a lot of trouble while learning concepts related to Calculations and LOD. It was the time when I used to stuck a lot deciding what exactly should be done in order to achieve the required visualization.

Key takeaways

As, I did spent a lot of time on Calculations and LOD, I believe these are the key takeaways for me. Having said that enjoyed the entire Tableau learning back in those days!!!

Tips and advice

I would recommend that those who are willing to take up this training, should first try to understand SiSense, as this tool has a lot more benefits than Tableau.

Final thoughts and next steps

Well, I see that learning SiSense would be a better decision as now it's gaining a lot of popularity and have even more functionalities than Tableau.
