I was a software development mentor in the Microsoft AppFactory program. This program is a 9-month internship created by Microsoft to assist university graduates in finding employment by giving them the necessary training and work experience. Astel Systems creates Billing Management Software, and the internship was conducted through them. The interns were primarily trained in the technologies used at Astel: ASP.NET MVC (with Entity Framework) using C#, HTML, JavaScript, SQL Server, SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services), Syncfusion. My technical duties included: reviewing code, teaching the interns about source control, helping them through each phase of the Software Development Life Cycle - requirements analysis, design, development, testing, bug fixing, documentation, deployment, support. Other duties included: teaching them about professionalism, communication, teamwork, attention to detail, time management, etc. Our internship program was very successful - 90% of our interns attained permanent employment afterwards.
