There was a legacy ASP.NET web app that was used by 3 company departments and had a lot of spaghetti code, inline SQL queries located in code behind and tons of files and this 3 in 1 app was using the same database. I was tasked to work in adding some enhancements targeted to only one the company departments which mean i should only touch specific project files but instead I decided to propose split the projects and databases meaning that I would have to create a new project and they approved it. I created a new database design, an ASP.NET Web api 2 for the back end and the front end was an angular app. I implemented design patters for the web api because it was a big project with lot of functionalities. We completed the reconstruction of the new app 4-6 months. At the end I wrote a more readable code, better file structure and followed best practices and conventions so that it can be easy to maintain or add new features which was a very difficult task and time consuming before.
