ABOUT ME
The only principle that doesn't inhibit progress is: Everything goes.
The only principle that doesn't inhibit progress is: Everything goes.

I dropped physics in 2009 to become a fullstack developer and then partially dropped the developer role in 2016 to work with technology and education. While I can still be a physics teacher and a fullstack developer, what currently drives me is trying to understand how can we improve our relationship with machines through joyfull and mindfull experiences. I believe invention literacy is a way to empower people.

If we work together it’s very likely I will talk a lot about Paulo Freire and Paul Feyerabend. If you don’t know them, you should definitely check them out because they are awesome!

On my spare time I am a synth freak, homebrew computer enthusiast, marble run maker and a terrible melodeon player.

I’m interested on human machine interaction, communication protocols, procedural and generative art, kinetic sculptures, pedagogy, math and philosophy of science.

I have started programming with Javascript and kept working with through my entire career. In the beginning it was a front end specific language used with PHP but nowdays it's basically my first choice for front end, back end or hardware development. I got some experience as well with reactive and MVC frameworks such as Backbone, Meteor, Polymer and home brewed frameworks while working on software houses, digital agencies and freelancing. In parallel, I also developed a few applications using Paper.js, Raphael.js, Processing.js and other graphic oriented frameworks for data visualization, web toys and musical purposes. Recently I have developed a few mobile and desktop applications using Electron, NW.js and Cordova. On my spare time I often like to program web based games either to explore some game mechanics, new language features or just for fun.

As I started as front end developer, the very first thing I learned to do was to tweak and structure web documents. Later on it came to my hand the power of style sheets and then I learned to orchestrate the whole DOM with Javascript. While doing it, I got to understand the meaning of each element and how the browser would interpret the tags, how to exploit the rendering system to get cutting edge layouts and user experiences. I worked side by side with designers to translate the essence of their layouts and concepts as pixel perfect as possible but also trying to go further explaining new possibilities that could enhance their ideas. HTML is far the best markup language in my opinion when it comes to structured and responsive layout.

Linux has been my official operating system since I understood I could choose what to install on my family's computer when I was a teenager. All I had was a CD flashed with an already outdated Debian based distribution, without internet and nobody around me to help. From that I read every single line of man pages, offline documentation and sometimes source code to get access to IRC channels and then get other people help. On this journey I explored from the guts to the makeup of many linux distributions that were available on that time. During many years I considered a hobby to download, install and review linux distributions I found on internet. After this I discovered myself in love with programming and when I became a professional in the field, setting up development environments, deploying production machines and setting up scalable environments. Deeper knowledge in ssh, shell, networking, security and system architectures came with the years and the different scenarios I faced through my hobbyist and professional life.
