I fall in love with Python when I started my Ph.D. My friend introduced me to Python to do FPGA/HDL project. I prefer Python than MATLAB because it is opensource. He also gave me his project on computer cluster using Python multinode. I love Python more when I found out about IPython notebook that become Jupyter notebook. Since then, I always use Python notebook whenever I teach my students or take online course. Julia programming language seems to be a great replacement for Python but still at very early stage when I try it.

I started with C. I teach a basic computer programming course at university level. I moved to C++ for my thesis project. I used OpenCV library for my undergraduate thesis project. For my master thesis project I combined Hidden Markov Model Toolkit with OpenCV to create Sign Language Number Recognizer. I used C# also as a variant for C/C++ and develop some mobile application to control a mobile robot using Bluetooth technology. For my Ph.D. project, I explored OpenCV and CUDA on top of Linux server.

I first learned about Javascript at my university. Javascript is in early stage at that time. Recently, I have to develop a backend for crop planning project. I should gather market price data from Indonesian website and weather data from NASA server. I used Digital Ocean server and moved it Amazon LightSail for further development. For the database, I used PostgreSQL with PostGIS extension. I still use Python and Flask as the webserver. Later, for visualization, I have to use Javascript and learn Javascript more extensively specially D3js and Leaflet library.
