How I learned CSS
About me
My name is Evanson Muigai, I'm a passionate web developer. I specialize in responsive web design and user experiences.
Why I wanted to learn CSS
To build better looking websites and to have better control of any website user interface. Current drag and drop builders have limits to what you can edit. I like having full control of every nuke and cranny of the website.
How I approached learning CSS
Most of my learning was online. I took courses on Udemy because you can choose your instructor there. I also subscribed to Codeacademy because on their paid plan they have lots of exercises that allow you to practice and hone your new skill.
Challenges I faced
Information overload was the main challenge. Sometimes the instructor will want to teach so much in so little time that you forget some of the content. But I learned to work at my own pace by replaying videos over and over again until I clearly understood what is being taught .
Key takeaways
Persistence is key to every project and every learning process. What makes me happy is putting into practice what I've learnt.
Tips and advice
Persist in your learning endeavor is key. It's only programmers like you that have the ability to change the world while never living the house.
Final thoughts and next steps
I'd like to learn JavaScript and all it's libraries. I think JavaScript will be a nice addition to my portfolio and I'll be able to build websites and web application with more functionality.
