Full-stack web developer with over 5 years of experience both as part of distributed teams for freelance projects and in companies working in the same office.

I love programming languages, designing and implementing systems and always eager to learn something new. In the last year I have been focusing more on API design and the various specifications and tools in that space.

I work mostly with PHP and JavaScript but recently had to pick up also Ruby and Ruby on Rails. In my free time I’ve been playing with Go.

When I am not working with code I try to learn as much as I can and help my teammates learn and grow as well. Aside from that I organize the local PHP user group and recently started speaking at various events and conferences.

I have helped build mid to big size projects with usually with the Laravel framework. Almost all from the initial planning, trough development, deployments and support long after they are launched. For some we’ve used automated testing and for some I’ve done TDD or BDD depending on the situation. That said I keep learning new techniques and frameworks and to help that process in 2016 I started the local PHP user group with several other developers and since then I have been the main organizer. I also sometimes speak at our or other groups and conferences.

Since my experience is around web applications I have always been involved with JavaScript as well. Everything from simple animations and Ajax calls here in there to full single page applications with BackboneJS several years ago trough Angular shortly after and EmberJS in the last 2 years. As with PHP I try to stay current and try the most popular libraries and frameworks to better inform my discussions when the teams I work in need to pick something new. Aside from Ember I have looked and VueJS recently but don’t have much experience with it yet.

Since this has been becoming more and more popular ever since I started working professionally and ties with my interest in rich client applications in the browser I have been looking at how to better design and build APIs. Yo be absolutely honest to this day I have never been part of a team that has built a fully RESTful API but I still try to lear as much as I can. And to me if the API serves its purpose, is not painful to maintain and is intentionally deigned that way, the of hypermedia controls meh not be that big of problem. Of course one has to know enough to be able to make that distinction. I also have experience integrating various APIs and all the pains that come with that.

I tried to learn Ember a few years back in its early days but it seemed too complicated. Now after working on projects with Backbone way back and Angular 1.x I can see the benefits. Ember makes it simple to bootstrap a large complex application and build some pretty complex UIs with relative ease. Though I realize that new people feel the same way I did in the beginning and all the conventions that make my life easier are also really intimidating for newcomers.
