I have 9+ years of experience going back to 2007. I have used Javascript and related libraries for many Rails projects. Initially I used it for minor validations but I grew increasing fond of it. Some people find Javascript limiting/buggy but I find it quite good to work with given its ubiquity and ease of use. I have gained trenendous knowledge on nitty gritty details (and some bugs) of Javascript while developing Screen recorder+player using pure Javascript. You can find it here http://www.castbin.com/ It does have some issues given many different ways and websites use Javascript and new features being added to Javscript but it also shows power of Javascript. It also involved Node based proxy which can proxy all traffic which can be accessed here https://github.com/amitamb/plugin-proxy I have dived into Angular as well for a project or two but I still use it as a supporting language. I also try to use Node wherever it makes sense instead of Rails on server side.
