About the talk
We see ads every day, on our laptops, on youtube, on banners in the city. And we often think of them as something distracting and annoying and of the ad industry as some evil machine. However, it is not as simple as the ad industry helps independent publishers make money, users find their desired products and other things. So I'd love to talk about why advertising is important and how it is done in the 21st century. We will be talking about what is contextual advertisement and how it works. Including who are the main players in the industry, what is the technology behind it and how do real users interact with it.
This talk will cover
- Overview of main players in the industry
- Technology - auction, first and second price, cookies, ctv
- Privacy in the internet
